About Pastor Wilson
I was born and raised outside of Scottsville, Kentucky, graduated from Allen County/Scottsville High School in 1977; that same year I married Jenny Vernon. We have raised three sons; Jeremy born in 1980, Justin in 1983, Jonathan in 1985. My wife and I are proud of our sons. In 2001 Jeremy announced his calling to preach the gospel. Justin plays the drums.
The Lord called me to preach in January 1982, while a member of Oak Street General Baptist Church, in Scottsville, Kentucky. After evangelizing for two and a half years, I accepted the pastor position in first general baptist of Cave City, in October 1984. After two years in this church, with no growth, the 23 members and myself prayed about relocating to the Glasgow area. God blessed us by allowing us to locate a store building in the slick rock area, which was approximately half way between the towns of glasgow & edmonton.
We knew god had blessed us by allowing us to find this location in 1986, since the members were all from these two areas. We remodeled the store building and converted it into a church and the church quickly began to grow, we soon reached approximately 35 members. In 1991 we built a new sanctuary, which would seat 104 people. The church grew slowly to approximately 40 to 45 people. It seemed like there was something missing in our church and my ministry.
In 1996, being overly stressed, spiritually burned out, I attended a tent revival on the property of proclaim broadcasting, channel 48 (now 31) in Scottsville, KY. I received the baptism of the holy ghost and fire. Wow, was my life and ministry changed forever! Returning back to the shepherd’s house, I am not sure how long my feet were not able to touch the ground. It seemed as if a spiritual foggy mist, now had entered our services. 56 people came to the lord in the first year. This was more than I experienced being saved, in all the years of my preaching. Our church quickly ran out of seating room.
In 1998, after seeing that our property was landlocked, we purchased 6 and 1\2 acres located 1 mile east, of the church. In March of 1999, we started construction on our current church. The building was completed and the first service was held in March 2000. On November 1st, 2002, we started our first early morning service. Today with thanks to the lord, we are serving our community by television, radio and now the internet. We are working hard to serve the Lord, and as he continues to bless this church, we will continue with our vision to spread His word in new areas.
